About
Sociology is one of the most important branches of social sciences. Most of the courses taught to Sociology students are about the social, family, health, economic, political, psychological, industrial, criminal, and administrative life, etc.
Study at the first semesters is focused on the introduction of Sociology and its relationship to other sciences and the procedures of studying and addressing social phenomena and problems through field training and later the preparation of scientific reports on these phenomena and the way of dealing with them in research and study.
Sociology department prepares qualified cadres of graduates that aim at understanding and approaching the concept of society through study and analysis. The overall program of the department of Sociology, through theoretical and applied courses, aims to provide scientific and research services in the field of social studies. Consequently, the department graduates would be capable of dealing with the surrounding environment which would be visible in their future careers, which include, for example:
• Social Workers
• Social researchers to work in in all social institutions, such as: schools, factories, prisons, hospitals, etc.
• Social researchers working in social researches and consultations offices.
• Specialists in welfare of youth, elderly, women, children, environment, etc.

Mission
Sociology department mission is established by the ability of students to adopt an accurate approach between the theoretical instruction they receive and the real-life demands to deal with changes occurring in society, train competent researchers, and establish prevention programs for negative phenomena in society.
Goals
1. To Create competent graduates in Sociology.
2. To Provide students with skills and expertise in conducting social research works and studies of various social phenomena.
3. To Focus on humanitarian studies related to community service and responding to changes.
4. To Follow, adopt, and compare between methodological and knowledge developments in addition to designing research works and drawing conclusions from these works.
5. To Localize postgraduate studies in Sociology and social work.
