Arabic Language & Literature Dept

About

One of the ways that contributed to preserving the Arabic language is the considerable interest given to this language from all around the world, particularly our Arabic and Islamic world, that there is almost no academic institution not including the Arabic language.
Arabic Language and Literature department has always established its presence in Misurata University. It was the foundation stone of higher education in this country when the faculty of basic sciences was first established more than thirty years ago.
The establishment of the Arabic Language and Literature department coincided with the beginning of the faculty of basic sciences establishment in Misurata, on the academic year 1984-1985. It was the first department in the faculty and has been headed by 12 teaching staff members in succession to date.
We started with granting Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language. Later, Master’s degree in Arabic Language in Linguistics and Literature became available too. Currently, the department aspires to grant the Doctoral degree as well.
This department has grown noticeably and taken wide-ranging steps as in this academic year it will celebrate the graduation of the 30th batch.
This department has the favor of providing the schools of different grades all around the country with Arabic language teachers. This department ambitions were not restricted to undergraduate studies, but reached postgraduate studies which were established many years ago. A good number of competent academic researchers graduated from this department and started their career as lecturers in the same department. It also provided the other equivalent departments with university professors.
Arabic language and Literature department is working hard to improve itself and keep pace with the latest developments, innovations, and updates in both form and content through periodic reviewing of the quality and performance standards of its system and curriculum, guiding it towards development and growth. The department aims to accomplish its mission to preserve this great language, teach it to the young generations with the easiest and most accessible means in order to connect them with their nation history and culture, and meet the needs of society in schools and different institutions.

Psychology Dept

About

Psychology was first established as a branch of the domain of philosophy and a research matter of epistemology. Psychology was interested in exploring the soul, then it became interested in studying the mind, after that, it moved to investigating feelings, finally, it settled on studying behavior. Therefore, psychologists had moved from investigating vague abstract topics to clear concrete subjects capable of being observed and tested through scientific methods since behavior is the different responses of an individual towards specific situations.
Responses are any activity stimulated by a stimulus. The subject matter of psychology is the human being as a living creature that does a physical, mental, emotional, motor, and social activity, interacts positively with his/her environment, and affects and is affected by the environment. Consequently, the human being starts to realize, feel, desire, react, remember, learn, imagine, think, and express his/her thoughts and feelings in various and different forms of behavior.
Psychology with its theoretical and applied branches studies and searches all the fields of individuals and groups behavior. Scientifically speaking, psychology is the science of human beings’ behavior which studies the relationship of human beings with environment and the development rules of psychological and mental processes upon which this relationship is based. Man's relationship to the environment is a relationship of influence and impact, give and take, and action and reaction. Cognition, emotion, and desire are the primary mental processes that Psychology studies.
